About this car

1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT offered at online auction by Repo Vehicle Holdings. Bank-sourced car with a clear title, VIN history report, no buyer fees and a 30-day return window. Open bidding with the full bid history visible.

This 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT is one of approximately 2,900 E-series examples produced through July 1974. Chassis 03952 was specified new in Rosso Chiaro over Nero leather and built on May 26, 1972, before being delivered new to Bill Harrah’s Modern Classic Motors of Reno, Nevada. The car is believed to have remained registered in California from roughly 1975 through 2023 and remained in storage for several years. It subsequently underwent work led primarily by Tom Yang, which included a suspension overhaul in 2024, installation of an R134a-based air conditioning system in 2025, and a repaint and interior refresh in 2026. Power is provided by a 2.4-liter V6 equipped with triple Weber carburetors and mated to a five-speed manual transaxle. Inside, fixed-back seats are accompanied by a gated shifter as well as a Becker Europa II radio.

The prototype 206 GT first appeared at the 1965 Paris Auto Salon with bodywork designed by Aldo Brovarone and Leonardo Fioravanti at Pininfarina and was followed by revised concepts at the 1966 and 1967 Turin Motor Shows. The 2.0L-powered 206 entered production in early 1968 before being superseded by the 2.4L-powered 246, which was offered in GT coupe and GTS targa-top variants beginning in 1969 and 1971, respectively.

This Scaglietti-built example left the factory finished in Rosso Chiaro (20-R-190). Records indicate that the body was stripped to bare metal and repainted by Classic Rescue Coachwork LLC of Oakdale, New York, in 2026. Additional work at the time of the repaint involved refinishing the underside of the trunk lid and other panels in black, polishing stainless-steel trim around the car, re-chroming the door handles and windshield frames, changing the window channels and felts, and replacing various body seals.

The 14″ Cromodora five-lug alloy wheels wear Dino-branded center caps and are mounted with 205/70 Michelin XWX tires. A matching spare is stored in the front compartment. Braking is handled by four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, and the suspension utilizes unequal-length A-arms with coilover shock absorbers and anti-roll bars at both ends. Brake work in 2020 involved servicing the master cylinder, rebuilding the calipers, and replacing the hard lines and hoses, while a suspension overhaul in 2024 included powder-coating the suspension arms, rebuilding the steering rack, and replacing various bushings.
