About this car

Ex–Carroll Shelby 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500 4-Speed offered at online auction by Repo Vehicle Holdings. Bank-sourced car with a clear title, VIN history report, no buyer fees and a 30-day return window. Open bidding with the full bid history visible.

This 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500 is one of 2,048 fastbacks produced for the model year and was specified with the Extra Cooling Package, the Interior Décor and Courtesy Lighting groups, a fold-down rear seat, power steering and front disc brakes, and a heavy-duty battery. It was first delivered to City Motors in National City, California, and was won in a contest by its first owners. The car was partially restored and was owned by racer Chuck Jones in California before it was purchased by Carroll Shelby and Stephen Becker c. Shelby installed a modern air conditioning system at this time, and the car was further modified with headers for its 428ci Police Interceptor V8. It is further equipped with a four-speed manual transmission, 10-spoke 15″ aluminum wheels, and an AM/FM radio.

A copy of a correspondence between Stephen Becker and SAAC Registrar Dave Matthews details the car’s history and Shelby’s acquisition, as well as subsequent modifications.

The GT500 model was equipped with a ducktail rear spoiler, fender extensions, air scoops on the sail and quarter panels, and a fiberglass ventilated hood with a ram-air scoop. This example is finished in Wimbledon White (4) with GT500 side stripes, and it was repainted in the late 1980s according to the records provided in the gallery. Photos of paint meter readings are provided in the gallery.

Aluminum 10-spoke 15″ wheels wear Shelby Cobra center caps and are mounted with BFGoodrich tires. GT500 models utilized an upgraded suspension system with heavy-duty coil springs and an anti-roll bar up front in addition to heavy-duty leaf springs out back, and Koni dampers have been fitted. The car is equipped with power steering, and stopping is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
