Now indicating 967 miles, the motorcycle is powered by a liquid-cooled 998cc DOHC inline-four paired with a six-speed transmission. It also has a slipper clutch, electronic fuel injection, under-tail exhaust mufflers, adjustable Öhlins suspension, triple disc brakes, gold-finished 17″ Marchesini forged wheels, a matte black-finished twin-spar aluminum frame, a clear windscreen, a clear-lens LED taillight, quadruple headlights, fairing-mounted mirrors, rear-set foot controls, yellow frame sliders, a black vinyl-upholstered rider seat and passenger pillion, and a side stand.
The R1 LE was produced to commemorate the Yamaha Motor Company’s 50th anniversary, and each of the 500 US-bound examples was finished in a Kenny Roberts-inspired yellow, black, and white livery with “Speed Block” graphics. Features include a matte black-finished twin-spar aluminum frame, a clear windscreen, a clear-lens LED taillight, quadruple headlights, fairing-mounted mirrors, rear-set foot controls, yellow frame sliders, a black vinyl-upholstered rider seat and passenger pillion, and a side stand.
Gold-finished 17″ Marchesini forged aluminum wheels are wrapped in Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tires. Braking is handled by radially mounted four-piston calipers fitted over 320mm discs up front and a single-piston Nissin caliper fitted over a 220mm disc at the rear.
The adjustable Öhlins suspension consists of an inverted 43mm fork in addition to a ride height-adjustable piggyback monoshock attached to the swingarm.
