1961 Chrysler · United States · Lender-owned, lien released
38-Years-Owned 1961 Chrysler Newport Convertible offered at online auction by Repo Vehicle Holdings. Bank-sourced car with a clear title, VIN history report, no buyer fees and a 30-day return window. Open bidding with the full bid history visible.
It is powered by a 361ci V8 paired with a push-button three-speed automatic transmission and is finished in white over blue vinyl upholstery. Features include a black soft top, canted quad headlights, finned quarter panels, a Flight-Sweep decklid, power drum brakes, power steering, and stainless-steel wheel covers in addition to air conditioning, a power-adjustable front bench seat, a push-button AM radio, AstraDome gauges, and lap belts.
Chrysler manufactured 2,135 Newports in the convertible body style for 1961, the final season for the brand’s prominent tail fins. This car’s white-finished body is believed to have been repainted under previous ownership.
Styling cues include quad stacked headlights set on a slant, a trapezoidal grille, a Flight–Sweep decklid, a remote-adjustable fender-mounted side mirror, and full-length body-side moldings, the lines of which culminate in tail fins at the rear. Both chrome bumpers wrap around the car’s corners, as do the front signals and taillight assemblies. The radio antenna is missing, and close-up photos that show paint chips along with paint bubbles and rust-through on the rocker panels as well as yellowing of the soft top’s plastic rear window can be viewed in the gallery below.
Black-painted 14″ steel wheels wearing polished stainless-steel covers are mounted with 215/75 Hankook Optimo H724 whitewall tires showing 2018 production date codes. The vehicle is fitted with power steering as well as independent front suspension that employs longitudinal torsion bars. Power-assisted drum brakes are positioned at all four corners.
