About this car

1957 John Deere 420W offered at online auction by Repo Vehicle Holdings. Bank-sourced car with a clear title, VIN history report, no buyer fees and a 30-day return window. Open bidding with the full bid history visible.

This 1957 John Deere 420W tractor is a row-crop utility variant that is powered by a 1.9-liter two-cylinder gasoline engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission with a 540-rpm power takeoff. The tractor underwent a mechanical refurbishment in 2013, which totaled over $3k and included rebuilding the hydraulic pump.

The exterior is finished in green with a yellow stripe across the hood and down the sides of the grille, a paint scheme which was adopted for the second phase of 420 production in 1957. A repaint has been carried out, and closeups of the finish are provided in the photo gallery below.

Yellow-painted wheels measure 12×28” out back and 6×16” up front, and a wide adjustable axle is equipped up front. Lights were an option on 420-series tractors and are present front and rear on this example.

The operator’s position features a cushioned bench seat with optional yellow vinyl upholstery and a vertical steering wheel. A new shift knob was installed in 2014.
