About this car

1939 Packard One-Twenty Four-Door Touring Sedan offered at online auction by Repo Vehicle Holdings. Bank-sourced car with a clear title, VIN history report, no buyer fees and a 30-day return window. Open bidding with the full bid history visible.

Finished in silver with black fenders, the car is powered by a 282ci straight-eight that is paired with a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission. Additional features include four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes, Safe-T-Flex independent front suspension, 16” wire wheels, a driver-side spotlight, a California-style Goddess of Speed radiator mascot, gray cloth upholstery, and a radio.

The 17th-series Packard lineup was introduced in September 1938 and saw the return of the One-Twenty name for the standard Eight range, which included a choice of seven body styles on the 127”-wheelbase 1701 chassis. This example’s four-door touring sedan bodywork is said to have been repaired and refinished in the early 2000s in its current shade of silver with black fenders and shoulder-line accents. Various imperfections in the finish are shown up close in the photo gallery below. Features include centrally latching doors, chrome bumpers, fog lamps, a driver-side spot lamp, and an integrated trunk. The radiator shell carries an armless version of the Goddess of Speed mascot, which was distinct to cars delivered in California.

Chrome wire wheels are wrapped in Coker Classic wide-whitewall tires. Stopping is provided by hydraulic drums at all four corners, and service of the rear brakes in July 2026 included turning of the drums and replacement of the wheel cylinders and shoes. Suspension incorporates a Safe-T-Flex coil-sprung independent setup and a leaf-sprung solid rear axle with an anti-roll bar, while lever-arm shock absorbers are utilized at each end.

The cabin is trimmed in gray cloth over front and rear bench seats with matching upholstery over the door panels. Features include color-matched carpeting, rubber floor mats, roll-up windows, dual rear ashtrays, front and rear lap belts, a lockable glovebox housing a clock in its door, a dashboard-mounted ashtray, and a radio with a drum-style display.
